Thank you for taking time to stop
in and learn more about the Bradley Fire Department.
The Bradley Fire Department is made up of 40 men and
women providing a variety of specialized services to residents,
businesses, and guests of the village. Since 1892, our department
has proudly served the Village of Bradley, and we continue to seek
out new and improved ways that we may better serve those who turn
to us in time of need.
Having lived in Bradley all of my life, it is with
pride that I serve as your Fire Chief. From my early days as a young
teenager in the cadet program, this department has been a special
part of my life. I truly believe that the Village of Bradley is
served by the most dedicated and well trained firefighters, paramedics,
and EMT’s in the area. As is true in every job, some days
are better than others, but there is still no greater satisfaction
than to be able to serve the community that has been home to my
family for nearly 100 years.
The
department is made up of several divisions structured to provide
the best-in-class services to the Village. These include:
Fire
Suppression
Fire
Prevention
Public
Education
Training
Emergency
Medical Services
Technical
Rescue
Each of these divisions is managed by a senior officer,
and each officer is held accountable for the outcomes of that division.
The department operates using a Management By Objective (MBO) design,
and each division director is responsible for developing goals and
objectives for his / her division. It is from those objectives that
the departments overall goals and objectives are developed.
For the past three years, the department has been
the host agency for the MABAS Division 7 Fire Academy, which has
become one the most recognized and respected fire academies in the
State of Illinois. Started in 1999 with 15 candidates, this years
academy has 36 candidates enrolled from 3 Illinois counties.
In 2002, the department went through an ISO survey,
and learned that our ISO rating was dropped from a five to a four.
This difference will save the average home owner money on their
property insurance, and will mean substantial savings to commercial
property owners. This is a major incentive as the community works
with local developers to draw more businesses into the Village.
We invite you to make this your department, and encourage
your feedback, thoughts, and ideas on the services we provide. Ours
is a mission of service, and it is from your comments that we are
able to evaluate ourselves, and serve you in the most effective
manner possible. You are always welcome to stop in, drop me an e-mail
at firechief@bradleyil.org,
or call me at 933-2401.
Sincerely,

Steve Wilder, EMT-P
Fire Chief
