HOUSEHOLD TRASH -all waste disposal items should be set
out no earlier than the night before the scheduled weekly pickup
by United Disposal (933-0081). Cans or bags used for household
trash have a maximum 30-gallon size limit. One large item will
be picked up free of charge each month. Appliances that are certified
to be free of oils or Freon are also included. Call Street & Alley
to schedule a SPECIAL PICKUP of many large items, tires, cement,
etc. The additional charge for Special Pickup items will be on
your monthly sewer bill.
YARD WASTE DISPOSAL -consists of grass, leaves, weeds,
small twigs, shrub clippings, garden plant residue, flowers and
straw. All yard waste is to be placed in 30-gallon brown paper
yard waste bags. These brown bags are available at many local stores
but not at the Village Hall. Yard waste bags should be set out
according to the regular pickup schedule. No yard waste bags will
be picked up during the winter months of December through March.
No waste burning in the Village…DO NOT sweep leaves into
the streets or other public places…Fines can be imposed.
RECYCLING -is currently on a voluntary basis in the Village.
Blue recycling bins can be purchased at village hall for $5. Recyclable
metal, glass and #1 and #2 plastic items can all be together in
the bins. Newspapers must be kept in a separate recycling bin or
bundled on top. Complete 'Recycling Guides' are available at the
Village Hall. Recycling bins should also be set out according to
the regular pickup schedule.
BRANCHES are picked up on the first Monday each month
in neighborhoods with no alleys and on the third Monday
in neighborhoods with alleys. Large branches should be no longer
than 8 feet and stacked all one way. Branches 3 feet or smaller
need to be bundled. If branches are cut by a contracted tree service,
they are responsible for disposal. Branches may be set out up to
48 hours prior to pickup. No branches will be picked up during
the winter months of November through March.

SNOW REMOVAL to clear the streets for the efficient movement
of traffic after a 3 inch snowfall forbids, by Ordinance, any motor
vehicles from being parked on Village streets according to the
following priority schedule: 1) all subdivisions and north-south
streets; 2) all east-west streets and; 3) all alleys. Plows will
first make a path down the middle of all streets then will continue
the above schedule until streets are cleared from curb to curb.
Alleys will be plowed after all streets are cleared. Any vehicles
allowed to remain parked in violation of Ordinance will be considered
a hazard to traffic and a public nuisance and may be removed by
an authorized towing service designated by the Police Department.
Towing and storage shall be at the owner's expense as well as any
fines that may be imposed. Disabled or elderly residents with special
needs should contact the Street & Alley Department at 933-3715.
A heavy snowfall is difficult for everyone and the cooperation
of all Village residents is appreciated.
