The Working Environment
The Bradley Fire Department is located in the heart of the Village
of Bradley. Housed in the municipal Center, the department facilities
include a day room, the apparatus room, bunk room, offices, and
a new communications center.
The Department
The Bradley Fire Department consists of the Operations Division,
which provides emergency services to those in need. In addition,
the Fire prevention bureau works with area businesses, schools,
and residents to promote fire safety in the community, and to assure
compliance with established fire prevention codes.
The Emergency Medical Services division is staffed by trained paramedics
and provides both basic and advanced life support services.
The Training Division provides ongoing training in all areas of
operations of the
department, and is staffed with 12 state certified instructors.
Apparatus and Equipment
Presently, the department runs with three engine companies, one
truck company, one medium duty rescue, and two ALS ambulances. The
department also houses the vehicles for the Kankakee County Tactical
Rescue Team. The department also has two command vehicles and a
transportation vehicle used by members to attend training programs,
etc.
Qualifications
- 21 years of age (19 if applicant has two years
of fire science studies)
- High School graduate or possess a GED
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be of good moral character
Successful completion of the following will also
be required
- Written examination
- Physical agility exam
- Background exam
- Oral interview
- Psychological testing
- Polygraph examination
- Drug Screening
- Medical exam
- Successful completion of State Certified
Fire-fighter II course
- Successful completion of State Certified
EMT-B and State Certified Paramedic training
- Establish village residence within six months
